The questions we get in the first conversation

What is NEXZOS exactly?Product and fit
A European desktop operating system for office workstations. It replaces Windows on the machine itself. The interface matches what people know from Windows by 80 to 90 per cent, so staff recognise the desktop straight away.
Does it run on the hardware we already have?Product and fit
That is the point of it. The architecture is light, which is why machines below the Windows 11 requirements stay usable. Which of your specific machines qualify is what the assessment answers. The scan judges them per device class; from € 1,250 upwards every machine is judged individually.
What happens to our line-of-business applications?Product and fit
We inventory them in phase 0 and split them into three groups: runs as is, runs through a compatibility route, or needs a decision. You get that list before you commit to a pilot.
Do we have to put this out to tender?Buying and procurement
The first steps stay clear of that. All three assessment levels, € 675, € 1,250 and € 1,750, and phase 0 at € 12,500 sit well below the direct-award ceiling in every country we work in, and below a usual internal signing limit. The pricing page shows where your own ceiling lies and how many workstations fit under it.
Is this a split assignment?Buying and procurement
It is a genuine sequence, and your procurement lawyer would strike it out at once if it were otherwise. Every step is a standalone assignment with its own result and a real decision to continue or stop. You buy one step at a time, and only that step. We put it in those words in the quotation.
What does the first step cost?Buying and procurement
The first conversation and the demo are free. The first paid step is an assessment, and you choose how deep it goes: € 675 for a scan, € 1,250 for a per-machine assessment, or € 1,750 for a full assessment with a test install on your own hardware and a pilot plan. The report is yours whatever you decide next.
What does it cost per workstation?Buying and procurement
A pilot package is a fixed project fee per band, € 12,000 for 20 to 40 workstations, € 15,000 for 41 to 70 and € 18,000 for 71 to 100, plus a licence per workstation of € 80, € 65 or € 55 depending on your assessment level, with year one of support inside. At 100 workstations after an Assessment that is € 24,500. Support and upgrades follow at € 12 per workstation in year two and € 15 a year from year three, the next major release included. Can we stop after each phase?Buying and procurement
Yes. It is in the offer, so it applies straight away.
Where does our data stay?Data and compliance
Within the jurisdiction you choose. The code is checked centrally; the data and the management stay with you. What leaves the workstation, if anything does, and where it goes, is in the data processing agreement before the first machine is installed.
Is NEXZOS GDPR compliant?Data and compliance
NEXZOS is GDPR-by-design: the development phase that built data minimisation and data separation into the architecture is finished. We are deliberately careful with the wording about NEXZOS making your organisation compliant, because that depends on how you configure and use it. What we supply is the architecture and the documentation with which you can demonstrate it.
Is there a data processing agreement?Data and compliance
Yes, as a template, available before you order anything. Your privacy officer can read it in the evaluation phase rather than at signature.
What about the Cyber Resilience Act and accessibility?Data and compliance
An operating system falls under Annex III, Class I of the Cyber Resilience Act, with the reporting duty from 11 September 2026 and full application from 11 December 2027. The European Accessibility Act has applied to operating systems since 28 June 2025. Both tracks run in parallel with development, and the compliance page states per item where we stand, including what is still to come.
Who is already running this in production?Risk
Nobody yet. The first organisation in production has still to start, so a reference customer to call comes only after that. We would rather say so here than have you find out for yourself. The first organisations take part as development partners, and that is also why the early prices are what they are.
What if TresBizz stops existing?Risk
Source code escrow with a third party can be arranged, and so can an exit arrangement with return of your data. Both are offers to be arranged with the agreement, and we would rather be precise about that difference.
How big is TresBizz?Risk
Small. TresBizz is a Belgian company in Brussels and NEXZOS is developed by a distributed team. If supplier size is a hard criterion for you, say so in the first conversation and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth your time.
Do we have to retrain everyone?Asked in every first call
A briefing is enough. The desktop is deliberately conventional, so the things people do all day, find a file, open a document, print, join a meeting, are the steps they already know. What we count on is a briefing per department and a higher load on support in the first two weeks.
The pilot exists partly to measure exactly that. Support calls per user in the first month is one of the acceptance criteria we recommend you set yourself.
What about our specialist software?Asked in every first call
That is the real question and it is why the assessment exists. Every application in your estate ends up in one of three groups: runs as is, runs through a compatibility route, or needs a decision. For a Windows-only executable the route is one of four: a Linux version, the browser version, publishing it from a server, or a small number of Windows machines kept for that purpose.
If a critical application is stuck on Windows, we tell you that rather than selling around it. In that case the honest answer for your organisation may be a partial migration, or keeping Windows.
Are our files still compatible with the rest of the world?Asked in every first call
Yes. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files open, edit and save in their own formats, and a document that leaves your organisation looks the way it did when it left. Heavily formatted templates and macro driven workbooks deserve a real test, and the assessment lists them.
Are we locking ourselves into a small supplier?Asked in every first call
It is a fair question and we are a small supplier. Three things are built to answer it: the foundation is open, so the code is there to inspect; escrow and exit support can be arranged and written into the contract before the pilot starts; and every stage of the route is a separate assignment, so the commitment reaches as far as the stage you are in.
What if it falls short?Asked in every first call
Then the pilot fails against criteria you wrote, on machines running beside your existing estate, and you stop. The workstations that were part of the pilot go back to what they were. What you keep is the report, the application inventory and the pilot results, which are useful to you whichever direction you take next.
Why pay you at all, when a free Linux distribution exists?The uncomfortable ones
A fair question, and the honest answer is that you are paying us for everything except the desktop. You can download a free distribution this afternoon, and a business licence for a polished one costs around € 40 per computer per major version, bought again at every release. Ours is € 80, 65 or 55 once, year one of support inside, then € 12 and € 15 a year for support and upgrades, the next release included. Over five years that is € 112 to € 137 per workstation, roughly the bare licence bought twice, and the difference buys the list below.
What you are paying for is everything an organisation needs around that desktop and that you have to find yourself alongside a distribution:
- A European supplier who signs a contract, a processing agreement and an exit arrangement, and who carries the liability that comes with them
- Your own line-of-business applications tested per organisation, before anything is rolled out
- Central management that works today, rather than a management platform still announced as coming
- Responsibility under the Cyber Resilience Act and the Accessibility Act sitting with the supplier instead of with your own IT department
- One number to call when four hundred workstations do something unexpected on a Monday morning
Put differently: the software is the cheap part. Migrating an organisation is the expensive part, and that is where a supplier earns its fee.
Is this just Linux with a Windows skin on top?The uncomfortable ones
We understand where that impression comes from, because NEXZOS deliberately builds on an existing kernel. What sits above it is architecture, and so more than a theme or a coat of paint.
Every successful operating system builds on existing layers. Windows runs on the NT kernel, Android is Linux, macOS is BSD. The question is what you structurally enforce above it.
What NEXZOS enforces above it, and where it differs from existing desktop systems:
- Privacy by design as an operating system default, in the core logic rather than in a policy or an add-on
- GDPR and data sovereignty built in natively, on European cloud assumptions
- Identity and permission control at operating system level, so across all applications
- Security orchestration instead of a stack of separate security tools
- A governance-ready architecture, aimed at government, healthcare and education
If NEXZOS really were Linux with a layer on top, Microsoft, Apple or Google would have released it years ago. That it is still there is the opening: building it would break their own revenue model.
In short: Linux is the foundation. NEXZOS is the governance model above it, and that is where the work sits.
The AI part looks like it was added at the last minute.The uncomfortable ones
That is a fair reading, and it is exactly the risk we avoid. AI sits here in the foundation rather than in a separate feature or a marketing layer, and in this phase we deliberately keep it in the background, so that it stays coherent.
NEXZOS is built as AI-ready infrastructure, rather than as an AI product. The investment goes first into an affordable, legal operating system for every user, energy use, hardware lifespan, and governance at operating system level: security, identity, data separation and compliance. Only on that foundation can AI be deployed coherently and safely.
Building every AI capability ourselves we deliberately leave to others. There are AI companies that are technically far ahead but stuck on distribution, compliance or trust. That missing layer is what NEXZOS is.
Your first customer has still to start. Why should it be us?The uncomfortable ones
Anyone who needs a finished product today chooses something else. What we offer is a smaller commitment than a normal purchase: an assessment you keep, then a pilot on your own hardware with acceptance criteria you set yourself, and a decision point after every step.
Going first also buys something only the first gets: your requirements shape the roadmap while it is still being written. That is the actual trade, and we would rather state it plainly than dress it up as an honour.
What if you disappear halfway through?The uncomfortable ones
A real risk with a small supplier, and the honest answer is a set of arrangements rather than a reassurance. Source code escrow with a third party can be arranged, so can an exit arrangement with return of your data, and every phase is paid for what it delivered, so on a stop you keep what has been delivered and you are done.
Those arrangements are put in place with the agreement. They are offers, and we say so on every page where they appear.
Our IT department will say a migration like this is too risky.The uncomfortable ones
They are right to open there, and the assessment exists for exactly that conversation. It produces the list of machines that qualify, the applications that need work, and the risks with names attached. If that list says the risk is too high for your organisation, you have spent between € 675 and € 1,750 to find out, and we would rather you learn it then than in month eight of a rollout.
Note also what the alternative costs. Windows 10 Extended Security Updates end in October 2028, and waiting is itself a decision with a date on it.
